5th ABOL meeting 2018

Dear colleagues, dear experts in biodiversity,
we cordially invite you to the 5th annual ABOL meeting, which takes place on 6th and 7th of December 2018 at the Natural History Museum of Vienna.
For the first time the meeting encompasses not only a scientific conference (with talks and posters), but likewise includes two workshops (held in German). In the morning of December, 6th the workshop Collecting for ABOL – ABOL for collectors addresses experts of taxonomic groups. In the afternoon a second workshop Application of DNA based methods in biodiversity monitoring addresses stakeholders, users and scientists. Both workshops will provide plenty of time for discussions, development of ideas and direct communication, to strengthen the biodiversity community of Austria.
The second day will see the conference with scientific talks. We ask you to submit abstracts for talks and/or posters relating to both research and application of DNA barcoding.
We invite all experts on biodiversity to join our meeting, be it researchers or students, users and stakeholders or interested laymen.
We are looking forward to great contributions, inspiring discussions and an exciting meeting!

This years ABOL meeting encompasses two workshops (6.12.) and the scientific conference (7.12.).
For the scientific conference and / or the workshops: please register by e-mail before 15th 31st of October 2018 via e-mail to abol@nhm-wien.ac.at. Please let us know if you are interested in just one part of the meeting.
Participation in the workshops is free of charge!
Scientific conference: EUR 20,- (payable locally), the conference is free of charge for students.
The conference fee includes an Icebreaker, coffee breaks and a lunch snack on 7th of December.

We kindly invite you to submit abstracts for talks and posters.
Duration of talks is 15 minutes + 5 minutes of discussion. Posters should be held in portrait format (A0 ).
The conference language is English (workshops will be held in German).
The deadline for submission of talks and posters is the 15th 31st of october 2018. Please submit your abstracts till this day via e-mail to abol@nhm-wien.ac.at.
Extent: 1 page per language (1,5-line, Times Roman 12 pt, page layout 15,2 x 22 cm)
Language: English AND German (if possible)

Like in the years before we plan to publish our Proceedings in the „Acta ZooBot Austria“.
For publication, upon request of the authors, abstracts can be converted into an „opinion paper“.
Extent: about 5 pages (1,5-line, Times Roman 12 pt, page ayout 15,2 x 22 cm) – i.e. approx. 15.000 characters per manuscript
Language: English – if preferred likewise German (please add an abstract in English)
