The ABOL initiative is dedicated to the recording and evaluation of the diversity of Austrian animals, plants and fungi (see About us). The overall project is executed by ABOL projects based on taxonomic groups (see ABOL cluster). These clusters integrate experts who participate in planning and realization of respective projects.
Large-scale projects
ABOL aims to establish trans-institutional and transnational cooperations. Bringing together expertise from various sources and benefitting from synergies increases the quality of the output. Currently, two large-scale projects contribute to ABOL. The HRSM project, funded by the BMBWF, is a joint project among five Austrian universities (-> read more). The BRIDGE-1 project (FFG) BIO-PLANBAR is conducted by the University of Graz (Lead), the Universalmuseum Joanneum and the Ökoteam (-> read more).
