Dear colleagues, dear experts in biodiversity,
we cordially invite you to the 6th annual ABOL meeting, which takes place on 6th of December 2019 in Innsbruck (WIFI).
The ABOL conference will take place this year following the D-A-CH User Group Meeting (UGM) DNA Methods in Environmental Management. Click HERE for more information.
The ABOL meeting will be held as a scientific conference in English.
We cordially invite all biodiversity experts, from scientists and students to users and stakeholders, to interested lay people to the ABOL conference.
We are looking forward to great contributions, inspiring discussions and an exciting meeting!

Thematic priorities
The ABOL conference will take place this year after the D-A-CH UGM. By linking the two events, a perfect arc spanning the scientific foundations of DNA bar-coding and the creation of the reference database to practical application in nature conservation and environmental management is created.
D-A-CH UGM:
- Exchange between research and conservation practice (public authorities, technical bureaus) regarding DNA methods in nature conservation and environmental management
- Information about the possibilities offered by DNA methods in nature conservation and environmental management
- Informing the scientific community about (desired) fields of application of DNA methods in nature conservation and environmental management from a practical point of view
- Presentation possibility of companies in the field of environmental DNA analysis from the D-A-CH area
ABOL meeting
- Presentation of the range of scientific questions of DNA barcoding
- Biodiversity research (in Austria) – building and strengthening the network
- Lectures on the regional to global relevance of DNA barcoding
- Data basis for DNA barcoding in Austria – an update
Registration
The event consists of two parts: the D-A-CH meeting on the 4th & 5th of December and the ABOL meeting on 6th of December. The registration can be done for both parts together or separately.
Submission of talks
For the submission of talks and lightning talks for the ABOL conference please use the registration tool (see above) for submitting abstracts.
15 minutes + 5 minutes of discussion are available for the talks, 3 minutes (maximum of 3 slides) for lightning talks.
The conference language is English.
The abstract submission deadline is 31. October 2019.
Format specifications for abstracts:
Language: English AND German (if possible)
Scope: max. 2000 characters per language
Addresses of ALL authors incl. E-mail address
As in recent years, we want to publish the proceedings again as part of the “Acta ZooBot Austria”.
For the publication, the abstracts can be converted into a “opinion paper” at the request of the authors.
Scope: about 5 pages (1.5 lines, Times Roman 12 pt, page layout 15.2 x 22 cm) – that is about 15,000 characters per article
Language: English – but can also be German (we ask for a short abstract in English)
